| This class is only open to CKC member families. This science class meets early before regular co-op classes begin and fee is charged per student.
General Science for most of the home school students is their first experience with a true classroom setting. Students are expected to take notes, participate in class discussion and learn how to write up experiments correctly. Homework will be assigned weekly. The class will have projects expected to be completed at home. Work load should cover 20-30 minutes per day 4 days a week. There is an expectation of basic household supplies with specific supplies provided by CKC. From the Apologia website: “This course is designed to be a student’s first systematic introduction to the sciences. Although it can be used for eighth grade (especially if the student has recently left the public schools), it is typically used best in the seventh grade. The course covers such topics as the scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, archaeology, geology, paleontology, biology, and human anatomy and physiology. Its scope, therefore, is quite wide. There are many hands-on experiments to do, and they all use household items.” |
